Anderson, Indiana October 2007

I know that we hear it all the time, but this life is not about us.  It is not about what Sarah wants to do or about making Sarah happy.  This life, my life, is about bringing glory to God.  This weekend, through the messages brought to us by both Jonathon and Jamie, I was reminded of this.  The weekend was a great time of service, fellowship, and growth for all, and I am so thankful for such a blessing!

The trip this past weekend to Indiana was excellent.  I will admit that I was skeptical (well not skeptical) but hesitant I guess you could say about what work we would actually accomplish.  I guess that is because I’ve always been used to going on mission trips with 50 to 60 people - choir tours at PMBC, etc. . . . so this trip just kinda seemed weak to me prior to going.  —Shu, how foolish I was to think this way…

This trip was great.  Although it was only a few days, when it was time to leave I was left wanting more.  I wish the trip could have been for a week! We did so much to improve the outside and inside of that lil’ church.  I couldn’t believe the amount of work performed in just a few hours on one Saturday.  Wow.  It truly showed me that all God requires is obedience - He will take care of the rest.  Who am I to pick and choose what mission trips will be affected.  I learned a lot from this trip.

I also feel that going to Indiana was awesome for Ignite and truly created a sense of unity among the church and its body.  I started to know many people on a deeper level than I did prior to the trip.  I guess overall I learned first-hand that “the harvest is plenty, but the workers are few”…. I just couldn’t get over how much our service meant to that church.  It blew me away knowing that it would have taken Kingston about a year to complete the work we did that weekend… What an impact we can have if we just get up, go, and serve Him…… There is always so much kingdom work to be done, but there are so few who are actually willing to do it. For this reason, it felt so great to be on this trip and get things done.

I enjoyed the fellowship and the service aspect of the trip.  It was so refreshing to get away from class and the books for a weekend.  Faith and Obedience occurred and I’m very grateful for it.

I hope there are more Ignite mission trips to come.  (maybe some close, even in KY)  Awesome.

I really learned more about the people we were working with and how necessary it is for good cooperation in order to get done what is needed.
