Last One….Maybe?

Since Monday begins my blog boycott (see post below), I couldn’t help but get one more in after reading C.J Mahaney’s blog this morning.  I just had to link this post to you.  The issue of modesty is one that the church needs to take seriously.  Brothers and Sisters in Christ not only need to look out for their own spiritual welfare, but as we exist in community, we must look out for each other

I finished Francis Chan’s “Crazy Love” over the weekend and would recommend it to everyone!  He does an amazing job of laying out what being crazy in love with Jesus should look like in light of the fact that God is crazy in love with His people.  I hope you check out the book.

While in Texas over the next couple of weeks I plan on reading at least two books.  I have one picked out already, “After the Baby Boomers” by Robert Wuthnow.  The other, an older book by John MacArthur, “Different By Design”.  I am looking forward to making it through both while I am away.

Velvet Elvis review update:  I have read chapter four and will try and post the review before Friday.  I may have time today, don’t know yet.  With so many other things to do, this book has just plainly failed to grab me!  For all the fanfare, I felt that it would be a provocative read and that I should have no trouble with breezing through it…not the case.

To keep with my video addiction, here is one for your enjoyment.

You are going to Texas for a couple of weeks?

Yes.

Hey bud, did you ever finish “Velvet Elvis”? I’m sure you loved it ;) Anyways, a great book to tackle after that one (if you haven’t read it already) is “Why We’re Not Emergent.” Those guys did an excellent job exposing the problems that are cropping up among all of the popular new Christian literature in regards to emerging culture and postmodernism. Plus, it is well cited and much more charitable than I think I could have been in tackling such a task. I have been studying Rob Bell extensively (and very disappointedly) because a lot of guys in my church have been attracted to his material, so I can understand why you might start checking into what all’s going on.

Talk to you later.
