Blog Boycott!

I am not going to take credit for this idea!  Dr. Bart Barber, a pastor in Texas, actually came up with it and I want in.  He is calling it Blogover 2008!  The idea is that you cannot post a comment or a post on the blogsphere until you have shared the gospel with at least 10 people.  I think this is a great idea.

We should be constantly sharing  our faith anyway.  However, we don’t.  I have recently been preaching through the book of James and just finished the fouth chapther.  James reminds us that we are a “mist that appears for a little while” then vanishes.  We are like the flower that blooms and then fades.  Our lives are indeed short.  The Bible is full of passages that express to us the brevity of our lives on this earth.  The Bible is also filled with passages that tell us what we should be doing with our time.

Ephesians 5:16 tells us to “redeem the time because the days are evil.”  Acts 1:8 gives us our marching orders, to go and be witness for Christ.  So, in accordance with that command, recognizing the brevity of life and the urgency of the day, I propose that we stop blogging, effective on Wednesday…May 7th….and do not return with comments or posts until we have shared the gospel with 10 people.

Any takers…..
